Te Pā Tāhuna is a
Ngāi Tahu Property development

Mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei. We drive profit but are purpose driven and live by the values handed to us by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu. Through excellence in sustainable land use, an inter-generational approach to investment, and a commitment to developing environmentally sensitive new buildings and communities, we ensure that we leave a treasured bequest for future generations of Ngāi Tahu.

About Ngāi Tahu Property

Mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei.
For us, and our children after us.

Ngāi Tahu Property is one of the investment pillars of Ngāi Tahu Holdings, the commercial entity charged with growing the wealth of more than 65,000 Ngāi Tahu whānui. Our purpose is to deliver excellent property projects which support the economic aspirations of our owners.

All our projects are delivered in accordance with the values of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu. In the two decades since the signing of the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act, Ngāi Tahu Property has built a portfolio of premium assets now valued at more than $600 million. Additionally, Ngāi Tahu Property has completed a variety of residential, commercial and industrial projects, building a track record of high-quality buildings and a trusted name in the industry.

Several successful master-planned residential developments in Ōtautahi-Christchurch, including Tumara Park, Linden Grove, Wigram Skies and Prestons, have been completed. Ngāi Tahu Property is currently well advanced in the development of Te Whāriki in Lincoln, Canterbury (in partnership with Lincoln University), Karamū Riccarton Park, in Ōtautahi-Christchurch and Kerepeti, in Tāmaki Makaurau-Auckland.

Ngāi Tahu Property has partnered with the Crown to deliver Te Pā Tāhuna, offering more choice and opening home ownership to more people in Tāhuna-Queenstown.

For generations, the land of Te Waipounamu-the South Island has shaped the culture and identity of Ngāi Tahu. The history and traditions of the iwi are recorded in the names of places, mountains, rivers, lakes and oceans, ensuring the footprints of our tīpuna-ancestors remain forever upon the landscape.

Ngāi Tahu Property has a responsibility to uphold the enduring relationship that our owners, Ngāi Tahu whānui, have with the whenua-the land through our investments and developments. We honour those generations that have gone before and continue to build a foundation for those who will follow after us.

Working with Mana Whenua

As an iwi-owned company we are committed to working with mana whenua in every area where we operate.
The naming of our developments is a process we take time and effort to get right. We are committed to the use of Te Reo Māori and to reinstate indigenous names and narratives into the landscape.

At Te Pā Tāhuna we are working closely with representatives from the seven southern mana whenua rūnanga to ensure we are embedding Ngāi Tahu names, values, and narratives into the fabric of the development to revitalise the traditional footprint of Ngāi Tahu in Whakatipu.

Working with mana whenua ensures that authentic representations of Māori traditions and history are honoured. Mana whenua have gifted the name, Te Pā Tāhuna, and shared the story of Tūwiriroa – a noted Kāti Mamoe chief who settled in present-day Queenstown.

Ngāi Tahu Property has also engaged Aukaha Ltd - a rūnanga-owned resource management and business consultancy representing the mana whenua interests in Whakatipu and the wider Ōtakau region. Aukaha will play an ongoing role in assisting us with our social procurement goals throughout the Te Pā Tāhuna project.
